William Nyam
With a career spanning over 25 years, William Nyam is a consultant specializing in Strategy & Economics. His extensive experience covers a broad spectrum of industries and sectors, both in the public and private domains.
A Two-Decade Journey in Leadership and Strategy Consulting
William’s journey in management consulting began over two decades ago, with a significant portion of his career—approximately 12 years—spent at a prestigious Big 4 Assurance, Taxation, and Advisory firm in Malaysia. During his tenure, he advanced from leading the Portal Strategy & Management services unit to becoming the Head of Strategy & Operations for the Management Consulting practice.
In 2014, William transitioned to the role of Group COO at a Public Listed Property and Plantation company. Two years later, he founded STRAT369 Consulting Sdn. Bhd. (formerly known as StrategyPlus Framework Sdn. Bhd.), where he continues to lead as Principal and owner. William’s public sector contributions are noteworthy, having led various economic and regulatory reforms and PPP advisory projects. His impactful projects include the transformation of Malaysia’s Water Services Industry, the transition to Outcome-based Budgeting for the Public Sector, and the development of thematic Industrial Parks to enhance Malaysia’s competitiveness. Additionally, he has studied the Co-operatives sector as a significant socio-economic force in Malaysia.
In the private sector, William has successfully led numerous strategic initiatives, including scenario modeling, business and budget planning, and implementation assistance.
He holds a Master in Finance from RMIT (Australia) and a professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (UK).
William’s career began in a consultancy firm specializing in strategic cost and financial management, focusing on activity-based cost management, process improvements, value-based management, and financial modeling. He later held key financial roles in a start-up company and a private equity firm before joining KPMG Management & Risk Consulting, where he rose to the position of Executive Director. William also serves as a Consultant under the ADB’s Financial and Economics Specialist Resource Network.
